Beloved Japanese department store Teso Life is opening an outpost in Houston with a variety of claw machines, fashion accessories, snacks, and more.

Houstonians will soon have the chance to explore the vast cultural inventory in Teso Life. Coming soon to Westheimer, Teso Life is a Japanese department store loaded with Japanese fashion, home, culinary products, and more.

Whether you’re flushing all your coins into the store's claw machines, stocking up on Japanese snacks, or just exploring the many unique products, the coming Teso Life outpost will be a welcome way to spend an afternoon in Houston.

Somewhere between a Japanese outlet store, bazaar, and Ikea, Teso Life describes itself as a "Japanese fashion casual life product department store". The company, founded and headquartered in New York in 2017, now has five locations in the New York area with two stores slated to open in Texas, including an outpost at 12220 Westheimer Rd. in Houston.

Teso Life houses a vast amount of unique, Japanese cultural products in the areas of fashion – from traditional kimonos to current streetwear – beauty and cosmetics, art, and gastronomy – from snacks to gourmet ingredients and traditional confectionaries.

Via its website, Teso Life also features sections for kitchenware, office products, bath fixtures, toys, kids, & babies, digital accessories, digital accessories, pet supplies, jewelry, fresh fruit, and more.

In addition to products for purchase, the department store hosts a a variety of cultural events in the above areas. Other Teso Life outlets have been known to exhibit cooking classes and demonstrations, temporary exhibitions, music performances, tea ceremonies, and calligraphy demonstrations.

While an official opening date has yet to be announced, Teso Life has announced that it would open its Houston location at 12220 Westheimer Rd. soon. Its latest outpost opened in Flushing, New York City this past May. Stay tuned for more details on the Houston opening!
